Prior to forming her own company, Carrie worked in program coordination, corporate communications, technology training, project management and marketing with San Quentin State Prison, Pearson Publications (San Francisco), Murray Hill Properties (New York) and WhatIf Networks (Portland, ME). She has recently served on the boards of Neighbors Helping Neighbors (Brooklyn, NY) and The Elder Abuse Institute of Maine and is retained by the latter as a technology consultant. Rev. Bill Bliss lives with his wife and two children in Bath, Maine, where he has served since 1999 as pastor of the faith community of Bath United Church of Christ. As a Christian, Bill lives to witness to the healing power of love. He believes that nonviolent direct action is the most courageous, creative, and effective method for cultivating human community. The primary influences in his spiritual formation are Jesus Christ and Native American spirituality. He holds a Master of Divinity from Union Theological Seminary in New York. He stays grounded and sane by playing guitar and being married to a fantastic artist, Lucinda Bliss.

He has over 30 years experiences in transportation and environmental consulting services. He is currently engaged in developing a sustainable funding mechanism to address aging infrastructure in New England communities He is active in numerous professional associations including New England Environment Association, New England Water Works Association, Maine Water Utilities Association, and the Maine Wastewater Control Association. He is past Chairmen of the Government Affairs Committees for both New England Environment Association and Maine Wastewater Association.

Craig Freshley is the owner and president of Good Group Decisions. He has facilitated many groups and has a working knowledge of all aspects of policy development. Craig's clients include government agencies, non-profits, and corporations. Prior to starting his company, Craig worked for the Maine Development Foundation and the Maine State Planning Office. He was a founder of Sustainable Maine, The Maine Downtown Center, GrowSmart Maine. He has written a book called Tips to make Good Group Decisions. Craig does volunteer facilitation and training for the Maine Association of Nonprofits, Common Good Ventures, and the Bangor Leadership Development Institute.

Susan Giambalvo, LCSW, has more than 12 years experience working in the social services field with a variety of different populations and several different capacities. She has experience providing direct services to individuals, groups and families who are struggling with family violence, substance abuse, poverty, and a range of mental health problems. Susan is currently the Director of Program Operations for Volunteers of America. Her responsibilities include overseeing the youth and family programs, working collaboratively with state agencies and other providers; seeking new sources of funding; and developing community partnerships.

Tom is an Associate Professor of Social Work at the graduate school of social work at the University of New England. Dr. McLaughlin holds a doctorate in social welfare policy from the Union Institute and University and a Masters degree in social work from the University of New England. A former police officer with the Biddeford Police Department, Dr. McLaughlin research interests are related to the intersection of social work, criminal justice and law enforcement.

As Maine Campus Compact’s Program Director and VISTA Director Maryli Tiemann promotes civic engagement among Maine’s colleges and their communities. She has enjoyed decades of teaching, especially high school students at Bath’s Morse High as well as college students at St. Joseph’s, Bowdoin and Southern Maine Community Colleges.
Maryli began and continues to create Longfellow Days, an annual community event which celebrates the inspiration of Henry Wadsworth Longfellow and his connections to both Bowdoin College and the Brunswick area.

Florence Young, L.C.S.W, has worked at Casey Family Services, the direct service agency of the Annie E. Casey Foundation, in the Portland, Maine Division over the past six years. In addition to providing post adoption services to families, Florence has been involved with Casey Family Services and Annie E. Casey Foundation’s family economic success initiatives, including the development of EITC/Asset Building coalitions. Florence completed her MSW from the University of New England in 1992 and has experience in the practice areas of homeless services, child welfare, mental health and chemical dependency fields.
